Job Title: Quality Technician
Job Description

The Quality Technician supports high-quality production of aerospace-related hardware by performing detailed visual and mechanical inspections of electronic assemblies and components. This on-site role focuses on 100 visual inspection under a microscope, interpretation of schematics and circuit diagrams, and documentation of non-conformances and material flow. The position requires strong technical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with production and quality teams in a fast-growing manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed visual inspection of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and components using a microscope for 7–8 hours per day, following IPC specifications and mechanical drawings.
  • Inspect products using 100 visual inspection methods, without automated testing, to identify defects and verify correct component population or intentional omissions.
  • Read and interpret schematics and circuit diagrams to determine which components should be present, correctly oriented, and properly assembled.
  • Identify and document defects, non-conformances, and quality issues, and communicate findings clearly to production and quality teams.
  • Document material flow through MRB (Material Review Board) for non-conforming materials and IQC (Incoming Quality Control) processes.
  • Create, update, and maintain rework instructions to guide production teams in correcting identified issues.
  • Study, understand, and teach product quality standards to production line assembly operators, reinforcing best practices and consistent quality.
  • Provide mechanical measurement support using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement instruments to identify potential supplier, design, or manufacturing issues.
  • Perform incoming material inspection on mechanical components and, when needed, on PCBAs to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Maintain and update dashboard presentations to track quality metrics, inspection results, and material status.
  • Support cosmetic inspection of parts and assemblies to ensure they meet visual and aesthetic standards.
  • Use computers and spreadsheet tools to record inspection data, generate reports, and support quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicating effectively inside and outside the direct team to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Essential Skills
  • Experience performing detailed visual inspection using a microscope for extended periods (7–8 hours per day).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and circuit diagrams for electronic assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of basic electronic components, including resistors (for regulating electrical current) and capacitors (for storing and releasing electrical energy).
  • Hands-on experience with PCB inspection and quality control processes.
  • Proficiency using mechanical measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Computer literacy for documenting inspections, maintaining dashboards, and working with spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in identifying and documenting defects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and teach quality standards.
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing facility with no remote option.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • IPC-A-610 certification preferred (valid or expired).
  • Experience using quality measurement tools such as gauges, calipers, scales, and optical measurement machines (OMM).
  • Experience with cosmetic inspection of mechanical and electronic components.
  • Background in consumer electronics manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet tools for data tracking and reporting.
  • Familiarity with presentation tools such as Google Slides for maintaining dashboards and communicating quality metrics.
  • A quality champion mindset with a proactive approach to improving processes and standards.
  • Enthusiasm for aerospace-related hardware and interest in advanced drone technology.
